The Annual

Works by the staff and family of Chelsea Frames and Galerie Protégé: Curated by Jaclyn Acker

July 12 – August 15, 2014

Galerie Protégé is pleased to present The Annual, an exhibition of works by the staff and family of Chelsea Frames and Galerie Protégé. This is the second year Galerie Protégé has hosted an exhibition for the fantastic and talented team working at 197 9th avenue. Curated by Jaclyn Acker president of Chelsea frames and Founder/President of Galerie Protégé.  This multi-disciplinary exhibition features works by Terri Beckles,
Brigitte Caramanna,
Robert Dimin, Samuel Fuentes,
Gloria Godall Lluch,
Allison K. Henri,
Justine Hill,
 Ethan Millspaugh, Arturo Rangel Puig,
Alcides Rivas, and Nicole Sands. Much of the staff has degrees in art, both BFA’s and MFA’s continuing the legacy of framers/gallery works and artists working in tandem and often being one in the same as is the case with the staff who’s work is on exhibition in the Annual.

Since 1983, Chelsea Frames has built its reputation as a premier New York custom framing studio specializing in framing for many galleries, movie production companies, architects and top interior designers. Having distinguished itself with its unique approach to custom framing, Chelsea Frames was hailed by Art Business News as being "a leading force in encouraging and supporting the art movement to Chelsea."  In 2011, the studio expanded to include Galerie Protégé, born from a desire to create a sacred place where emerging artists could exhibit their work in the heart of the prestigious Chelsea gallery district.

The Annual highlights the ethos of these two leading entities under the reigns of Acker.  Her curatorial efforts begin in the hiring process, making sure that her team understands the creative process at its pinnacle. As a member of these institutions, the staff finishes and nurtures another’s work, whether it in the act of framing or curating an exhibition. The staff at 197 9th Avenue represents the highest level of professionalism in their work and in the art that they create.

Please join us for the opening reception on July 12th between 6pm and 8pm.
