The Protégés

Annual Staff Exhibition

curated by Jaclyn Acker

June 23 – August 11, 2018

The Protégés

An exhibition of works by the staff of Chelsea Frames

Curated by Jaclyn Acker

June 23rd – August 11th, 2018

Opening Reception: June 23rd, 6 - 8pm

Galerie Protégé is pleased to present The Protégés, an exhibition of works by the staff and family of Chelsea Frames. This is the sixth annual exhibition hosted by the gallery. Curated by Jaclyn Acker, President of Chelsea Frames and Founder/President of Galerie Protégé, this multi-disciplinary show features works by Alex Guyon, Alcides Rivas, Allison Henri, Carrie Theuring, Cat Arevalo, Daniel Beauchemin, Dareece Walker, Indigo Nelson, Kara Verkennis, Ren Blaha, and Victor Terrero with Marc de Laat, Matt Bergstein, Sam Fuentes, and Sara Meghdari.

Since 1983, Chelsea Frames has built its reputation as a premier New York custom framing studio specializing in framing for many galleries, movie production companies, architects and top interior designers. Having distinguished itself with its unique approach to custom framing, Chelsea Frames was hailed by Art Business News as being "a leading force in encouraging and supporting the art movement to Chelsea."  In 2011, the studio expanded to include Galerie Protégé, born from a desire to create a sacred place where emerging artists could exhibit their work in the heart of the prestigious Chelsea gallery district.

The Protégés highlights the ethos of these two leading entities under the reigns of Acker.  Her curatorial efforts are rooted in company culture, making sure that her team understands the creative process at its pinnacle. The workforce behind 197 Ninth Avenue represents the highest level of professionalism in their work and in the art that they create. As a member of these institutions, the staff works behind the scenes to nurture the artistic ventures of others, meanwhile fulfilling artistic pursuits of their own in their lives outside of the studio. The result is a significant respect for they work that they encounter, and an ongoing development of their practice as a framer and an artist.

Please join us for the opening reception on June 23rd between 6 and 8pm.
